I will never forget the moment when she stayed with us...although it was only a month during my mum's confinment after the birth of my brother. The impression was still so clear in my mind. The care she gave me, fed me and looking after a mischievous me..

Bangkok Trip 3 - 6 Jun 06

I have spent my last weekends at Bangkok for 4 days 3 nitez. although this was the 3rd time i travel to Banagkok, but the experince was different. I went with my sis and 2 other friends. We really had a good time shopping.
First day, we check in to Baiyoke Suite Hotel in the evening and went for our dinner at a cafe in Gold place shopping centre. We sat beside the window and viewed the happenings on the street. There were many mobile push carts selling finger food. The most popular one was the BBQ stall. After dinner, we went for a walk along street and we were amazed when we saw a stall selling deep fried bugs and beetles...some customers were trying the bugs and it was realli disgusting..but to the locals, it was a delicacy...different culture..interesting!
On our way back to the hotel, we passed by pratunam night market...we bought quite a few things from stalls on the street. I bought Jumbu and thinking of bringing back to the hotel. On our way back, a Tutu drove passed me..it was realli too close and it smashed my Jumbu..i was quite shock then..and i was telling my friends..luckily it oni smashed my jumbu..not my arm..the drivers there were realli reckless.
2nd day, we went to Chatuchuk weekend market. We took a cab there and the stupid taxi driver charged us $800 baht whereby it oni cost around $50 baht to reach there...we had a hard time clarifying with the driver and decided to give in. .but started to curse and swear him. As the market oni open on weekends, we can see both tourists and the locals doing purchase there. The things there were reasonably cheap and we can even bargain for lesser price. However, shopping there was really a difference xperience. The place was warm and humid...especially during noon time, the condition was even worst. With more and more pple crowding the small pathways..and everyone trying to grab for the best goods, shopping there seems to be a challenging one. The worst thing was, during the late afternoon, it started drizzling and everyone was trying to find a shelter along the street. I realli gave up and telling myself that i wan to get out of that place. We were realli tired and exhausted...but coz of our bad experience, we decided to take MRT and Sky train back to our hotel. There was distance from the skytrain station to our hotel. along the street, we saw a stall selling fried rice and bee hoon and BBQ sotong. We bought a few packets and enjoyed them in the hotel. Nite time, we went to Suan Lum Nite Market to meet a friend at the Beer Garden nearby. It an opened space area with free performances...quite entertaining although we dun understand Thai...we had tom yum soup and green curry and a bottle of bacardi lime... yummy!
3rd day, we had our breakfast and headed to Platinium Wholesale Centre which was oni a stone throw from our hotel. Wow...itz realli a heaven compare to Chatuchuk. There were mani interesting shops selling fashion wears...mostly for ladies..I think i spent quite a lot in that shopping mall..realli a shopping paradise..we oni had a cup of coffee and continue shopping without hafing our lunch...coz we wanted to save our stomach for steamboat dinner.
We left Platinum in the evening. We had our dinner at Cocoa stemboat at Siam Center. The tom yum soup was realli delicious! After dinner, we went to Siam Paragon to look for manicure shop. The shopping centre was really tooo big...and by the time we reach the beauty and health care area, the shops already closed. We went to hagen daz and had some ice cream b4 going back to the hotel. on our way back, we suddnely remembered tat there was a spa massage center nearby our hotel. We went there to try our luck and itz open! We had Thai massage for the full body. Interesting...coz itz the first time I had a mass massaging session..realli shiok! With a lot of stretching, twisting and turning..haha..feeling relax after the massaging session...and we had a good sleep that nite.
Last day in Bangkok, woke up early and went for last min shopping. Since we had to rush back to hotel by 12 noon to check out.. we can oni shop along Pratunam. We went to Gold Place again and my friends had their manicure and pedicure there while my sis and I continue shopping in the shopping mall. After which, we rush back to the hotel and along the road we saw BBQ sotong again and da bao back to hotel. We took a cab to airport and and assisted by 2 friendly bellboy.
We continued our shopping in the airport as I realised I need buy something for my colleagues. We bought a set meal from burger king and continue shopping in the airport till we realised the last call for our flight. Annoucement was made and we had to rush to the check in counter within 1 min. My friend were being told off by the air stwardress. We were quite pissed when we realised it still took quite some time b4 the plane took off.
We took Jetstar Asia flight back. On the way, the plane was shaking and it was quite scary at
times. I couldn't sleep although I was quite tired.
Overall, itz an enjoyable and memorable trip. We really had lots of fun shopping and going crazy at times...I missed Bangkok!

Mothers' Day Hi-Tea

Taken with the Ladies Committee

Mothers' Day Hi-Tea @ Pan Pacific Hotel on 13 May 06, Sat

Woke up quite early in the morning..after washing up, i started wrapping the door gifts for the participants for the Mothers' Day Hi-Tea at Pan Pacific Hotel. Mum saw me taking my own sweet time..so couldn't stand me and offer to help me..haha..I was telling her..do u noe that u r doing something for other mummies who will be celebrating their Mothers' day..hee..initially I have reserved a place for her..but coz the respond was realli too overwhelming..so no choice..haf to give out my seats to other members. Luckily got Mum's help if not realli wun be in time..haiz...my mum understands me too well..haha..

After getting ready I set off together with my brother. He was meeting his project mate at AMK. So I gave him a ride. Before we manage to get a cab, it started to raining veri heavily. hmm..both of us were lazi..so we only brought along 1 umbrella..i was half wet when we managed to hop on to the cab. On the cab, we were still arguing who should take the umbrella..haha..dropped him at Clementi and dump the unbrella to him..muhaha...

Reached Pan Pacific Hotel at 1230 hrs..on the dot..(i'm not late..haha) some members already there..started eating. I find myself a bit weird standing there..so approached some of them and chat with them. i present the door gifts to them and of course took the chance to publicise my personal grooming workshop to them. Waited for almost an hour...Mdm Jennifer (Committee Chirperson) managed to rush down from NDP rehersal. She told me her mum wun be attending and invited me for the lunch. Initally, I insisted not having my lunch there..coz quite weird mah..but after much persuasion, i decided to join them...realli weird lor..coz not much things to say...think i still prefer the Hi-Tea I had at JB..although the buffet spread was not as good compared to Pan Pac.

Overall, the event can be considered as a success..think most members had enjoyed themselves..and some even asked me to inform them if there any good deals like this in future.

Met up with sis at Marina Square after the event. Shopped around, bought some clothes...we were quite tired and went for coffee. After which, we went to Minitoon..I saw a realli cute turtle..with detachable shell...after much pastering..sis finally bought for me..and tat ws my birthday gift this year..hee..

Both of us dropped dead when we reached home..hehe..

The above photos were taken on 28 Apr - 1 May 06 in Hong Kong.
I have been looking forward for this trip since Mar. Itz realli a trip where I can rejuvenate my mind.
Throughout the trip, itz simply eat, shop, a bit of visiting to some places of interest, sleep and the cycle repeats..hehe..
28 Apr - Fly off to HK. Met Bee in airport..but din realli chat for long..coz she's bz also..so me and my colleague checked in earlier to shop at the duty free outlets. We bought Paris Hilton perfume and had Tinklebell (now in our office) as free gift..hee..
Reached HK about 3 hrs later..the rain juz stopped..cooling weather..met Cherie's friend, Joyce and we board the airport transfer bus.. checked-in to Dorsett Seaview Hotel at around 5 plus. After which, we went to a salon at temple street for a hair cut..well..the main mode of communication was in cantonese..had encounter some problem in communcating with the hair stylist..he managed to pronounce a few chinese words..and i managed to form the words into sentances..haha..We went to Lan Gui Fang at late night after our new hair-do. We poped in to C Club and experienced a veri HK movie thingy. The light was suddenly litted brightly and we saw a grp of policemen walking in. They checked our ID and after they went off..my colleague commented..we were all decieved by HK movies, coz the policemen we saw were mostly middle aged men and not handsome at all..-_-"'...haha
29 Apr - Shop for the whole day..we shopped at Temple Street and Tsim Sha Tsui. When to a Disney shop and bought a few stuff..my colleague bought a Mickey and Minnie watch..veri nice...and itz the last piece...a realli good grab.
30 Apr - Took First Ferry using my Octopus card to Lantau. Took a bus to Da Yu Shan to meet Giant Buddha. He is realli huge..the temple was veri solemn and peaceful...veri nice scenery..we bought the lunch ticket and had vegetarian lunch at the temple, a veri unique experience..hehe... I bought a veri Guanying pendant for Mum...hope she will be blessed everyday..at around 4 plus, we went to an Esprit warehouse nearby and shop like crazy..itz simply see, nice..grab and go..wow..spent quite a lot there..but the clothes there were realli cheap and nice..realli worth it.
1 May - Last day of the HK tour..went to a teahouse near our hotel for breakfast. We had a bowl of instant noodle with egg and ham. Since itz still early, we went to nearby shops to have a look. haha..never noe tat last min i still managed to grab something..haha..had a rest at Xu Liu Shan and had a fantastic mango sago...nice!!! Raeched HK Airport at around 12 plus. Had our lunch at Popeye fast food restaurant. Tried their cookies...it tasted realli great with lots of honey..after lunch, we went to disney shop to haf a look. I bought a box of chocolate and a stationary set. After making the payment, then we realised we were late. We run all the way...the boarding gate was realli far and we have to take a sky train over to another wing.
Overall, it was a fun trip..tried my best to capture every moment. It is definitely a memorable experience for me..and of course veri happi to noe quite a few new friends as well. Next destination is to KL on 20 May with my department..believe it will be another trip with great fun..looking forward!

Happening weekends

wow..last weekend was a realli fun and interesting one.
Fri went to Choir practice. Wei Wei and Jeremy 'psycho' us to go JB on Sat.
At first we told them we can't coz both of us had an appointment at X-Style salon..
but somehow..they managed to 'psycho' us and Rachel.

Sat, initially meeting Rachel at Jurong East, 10am. However, i couldn't find my passport and spent quite some time seraching for it..so pissz..

Managed to reach JB at around 1pm..after which, Jeremy drove us to Grand Bluewave Hotel for Hi-tea. Not bad..international buffet..like the crepe with choco ice cream..yummy!

After a great hi-tea, we proceed to Holiday Plaza. I wanted to look for my D&D dress but din manage to find one. After tat, we went for RM 8 manicure..the staff there were not veri pro..coz the lady who did for me dun realli noe how to shape nails..and i had a cut. Through the chatting, i realized they were actually beauticians (who seldom do manicure) trying to push their facial and slimming package. After much persuasion, Sis bought their facial cum slimming package...hmm..can consider quite cheap compared to S'pore..well seems like we will haf reason to visit JB often..hehe..

At night, Jeremy brought us to JB pasar malam..interesting! The pasar malam there quite different also..they sell raw fish, vegetables and grilled chicken. We stopped at the fruit stall the longest..coz we took quite some time choosing the mangos. We also bought a package of Cai tao kway and half grilled chicken and had our dinner at a prata stall.

After the pasar malam tour, itz already quite late. So we decided to go Jeremy's house to stay overnight. His mum quite nice..shared with us some of her recipe in making chilli paste and tried her home-made otah..veri nice..

Dozed off half way when they are watching privated VCD...Eight Below..(so cute..can see pple walking up and down..and a towel covering the camera at times.)

On Sun, woke up at around 12 noon..washed up and went for Yong Tau Hu lunch with Jeremy's family. So paiseh..his dad treated us..and we forgot to thank him..opps..

Managed to rush back home at 4 plus. Washed up and went for Kate's wedding dinner at Furama Hotel. Ah Peng and I took a cab there. We went to her bridal room to look for her..room 1926... she's so lovely with her sexy wedding gown.

She had been complaining that things were quite rush for her during the preparation. Initially, they actually planned to haf their wedding in Jun...But unfortunately, her dad passed away at the beginning of the year. So according to some traditional chinese customs, they haf to get married within 100 days. We were quite sad when we were watching her ROM video..coz that time her dad was there to withness her ROM.

hmm..glad to see her happi smile again..and she is fortunate coz she had a nice and understanding husband...reminds me of the happy ending in faiy tales "...prince and princess living happily ever after..." realli envy her..and I started joking with Ah Peng to faster look for one too..keke..
A message to Kate --> Congratulation! All the best to both of you in mani years ahead! Dun forget to invite me to your baby full month..hehe..

Oh dear...a sudden sense of loneliness strikes me again...haha..

L.E.A.F

Today, we had a GM dialogue in the afternoon.
Initially, I thought that the session will be a long and boring one...but it turned out to be otherwise.
GM started with screening a very funny video...on a few customers being caught on camera when they tested on the "water bed"...and another cartoon on ants @ work.
After which he briefed us on some changes in the Club and re-emphasis on the core values and meaning of the logo to all staff.

Mission Statement
To provide every member of this Club with an environment that is conducive for forging closer ties among families, friends and fellow servicemen.

Core Values
Promote Professionalism by paying attention to members' interests.
Respect the members' feedback and their views.
Instill a spirit of sharing, learning and co-operation among the staff and members.
Deliver quality customer service by discerning the members' needs.
Express our commitment by embracing the core values.

He also illustrated to us the organisation structure..similar to the potted plant above.

He summerised the whole dialogue with this:

Meaning: Begin each day with a smile and you will bring smile to many people.

He ended the dialogue with the following four letters word:

L - Learn (skills & knowledge)
E - Experience & enjoy
A - Appreciate (Appreciate we have a job, appreciate our colleagues and friends, appreciate colleagues help etc.)
F - Fun (meaning have fun!)

Hmm...itz quite an unique way of conveying the message to us..meaningful too! And I remember it till now...keke..
