10 Jun 06, grandma's 84th birthday

Grandma was realli happy last night when she saw so mani of them celebrating her birthday.

I will never forget the moment when she stayed with us...although it was only a month during my mum's confinment after the birth of my brother. The impression was still so clear in my mind. The care she gave me, fed me and looking after a mischievous me..

Bangkok Trip 3 - 6 Jun 06

I have spent my last weekends at Bangkok for 4 days 3 nitez. although this was the 3rd time i travel to Banagkok, but the experince was different. I went with my sis and 2 other friends. We really had a good time shopping.
First day, we check in to Baiyoke Suite Hotel in the evening and went for our dinner at a cafe in Gold place shopping centre. We sat beside the window and viewed the happenings on the street. There were many mobile push carts selling finger food. The most popular one was the BBQ stall. After dinner, we went for a walk along street and we were amazed when we saw a stall selling deep fried bugs and beetles...some customers were trying the bugs and it was realli disgusting..but to the locals, it was a delicacy...different culture..interesting!
On our way back to the hotel, we passed by pratunam night market...we bought quite a few things from stalls on the street. I bought Jumbu and thinking of bringing back to the hotel. On our way back, a Tutu drove passed me..it was realli too close and it smashed my Jumbu..i was quite shock then..and i was telling my friends..luckily it oni smashed my jumbu..not my arm..the drivers there were realli reckless.
2nd day, we went to Chatuchuk weekend market. We took a cab there and the stupid taxi driver charged us $800 baht whereby it oni cost around $50 baht to reach there...we had a hard time clarifying with the driver and decided to give in. .but started to curse and swear him. As the market oni open on weekends, we can see both tourists and the locals doing purchase there. The things there were reasonably cheap and we can even bargain for lesser price. However, shopping there was really a difference xperience. The place was warm and humid...especially during noon time, the condition was even worst. With more and more pple crowding the small pathways..and everyone trying to grab for the best goods, shopping there seems to be a challenging one. The worst thing was, during the late afternoon, it started drizzling and everyone was trying to find a shelter along the street. I realli gave up and telling myself that i wan to get out of that place. We were realli tired and exhausted...but coz of our bad experience, we decided to take MRT and Sky train back to our hotel. There was distance from the skytrain station to our hotel. along the street, we saw a stall selling fried rice and bee hoon and BBQ sotong. We bought a few packets and enjoyed them in the hotel. Nite time, we went to Suan Lum Nite Market to meet a friend at the Beer Garden nearby. It an opened space area with free performances...quite entertaining although we dun understand Thai...we had tom yum soup and green curry and a bottle of bacardi lime... yummy!
3rd day, we had our breakfast and headed to Platinium Wholesale Centre which was oni a stone throw from our hotel. Wow...itz realli a heaven compare to Chatuchuk. There were mani interesting shops selling fashion wears...mostly for ladies..I think i spent quite a lot in that shopping mall..realli a shopping paradise..we oni had a cup of coffee and continue shopping without hafing our lunch...coz we wanted to save our stomach for steamboat dinner.
We left Platinum in the evening. We had our dinner at Cocoa stemboat at Siam Center. The tom yum soup was realli delicious! After dinner, we went to Siam Paragon to look for manicure shop. The shopping centre was really tooo big...and by the time we reach the beauty and health care area, the shops already closed. We went to hagen daz and had some ice cream b4 going back to the hotel. on our way back, we suddnely remembered tat there was a spa massage center nearby our hotel. We went there to try our luck and itz open! We had Thai massage for the full body. Interesting...coz itz the first time I had a mass massaging session..realli shiok! With a lot of stretching, twisting and turning..haha..feeling relax after the massaging session...and we had a good sleep that nite.
Last day in Bangkok, woke up early and went for last min shopping. Since we had to rush back to hotel by 12 noon to check out.. we can oni shop along Pratunam. We went to Gold Place again and my friends had their manicure and pedicure there while my sis and I continue shopping in the shopping mall. After which, we rush back to the hotel and along the road we saw BBQ sotong again and da bao back to hotel. We took a cab to airport and and assisted by 2 friendly bellboy.
We continued our shopping in the airport as I realised I need buy something for my colleagues. We bought a set meal from burger king and continue shopping in the airport till we realised the last call for our flight. Annoucement was made and we had to rush to the check in counter within 1 min. My friend were being told off by the air stwardress. We were quite pissed when we realised it still took quite some time b4 the plane took off.
We took Jetstar Asia flight back. On the way, the plane was shaking and it was quite scary at
times. I couldn't sleep although I was quite tired.
Overall, itz an enjoyable and memorable trip. We really had lots of fun shopping and going crazy at times...I missed Bangkok!
